Sigurds morning routine

Sigurd plays every morning

Every morning after being fed and having checked the garden to see nothing has changed overnight and having told the birds he’s awake, Sigurd has his morning routine. He knocks over his toy box, checks everything is there and then he scatters his toys and goes to our office to get his sack chair and then drags it into the living room!

We bought him this baby sack chair several years ago and it’s his favorite, he plays with it, sleeps in it and chews bones in it - when needed the sack chair goes into the washmachine and the tumble dryer and it is as good as new. Sigurd has never chewed up things, lucky for us, just imagine the content of the sack chair all over the house!

Come on, mom….

Sigurd very tired

You promised the last time that you would go buy new batteries for the camera - all this waiting in between pictures makes me fall asleep! And everytime you say: “Look at mom, you’re such a nice boy” it takes forever still and I can’t stay awake! “Don’t I look cute though even with my eyes closed, mom?!”

Afraid of the new bed…

Okay, when we were talking about getting a dog we agreed on three things: We wanted a male dog, he should be named Sigurd and most importantly - he shouldn’t sleep in our bed!

So we bought him a nice doggy bed and told him that would be where he should sleep. He cried all night…unless one of us had our arm in his bed, then he would sleep peacefully! This went on for a while but one night we were so tired and in our sleep pulled the arm out of his bed … he didn’t cry, no, he climbed in to our bed and slept peacefully!

Since that night he has been sleeping in our bed and we must admit, we love it. He cuddles up beside us, kisses us goodnigt, moans a little, sighs…… and snores!!
Tired of fighting for our pillows we went out and bought him a little baby pillow and pillow casings to match ours - don’t say it - we know - we are crazy!

That’s the way it’s been for years - recently we then bought a new bed, a tall bed so it would be easier to get in and out of bed and wouldn’t you know?! Sigurd is afraid of that bed!! He is not able to jump onto this new bed, well, he tried and all that ended up with was a big bang! We carried him into bed then but then he jumped off and that also ended with a……yes you guessed it! It was awful, we feared he had broken every bone in his little body when he hit the wooden floor! Then we placed a chair at the foot of the bed as some kind of stairs for him to use. And he did and everything was fine.

Until one morning he was getting out of bed and the chair rocked a little and made a noise! Danger! So now he’s afraid of the bed and the chair! Sigh!

So now, we carry him in bed a night and out of bed in the morning…. and we love doing it for our little Sigurd, the joy of our hearts.
